“This Hair. This Skin. This Body.” was rooted from the journey of self-discovery. Through various mediums, the artists explored the ideas of finding oneself’s identity through features of our most natural self from the roots of one’s hair to their skin tone. The exhibition tells a story of pride in who we are, where we come from, and stems into who we are becoming. Rooted in the message of appreciating elements of our physical selves, “This Hair. This Skin. This Body.” told the many stories of reaching within to find ourselves and taking in how our natural features reveal our beautiful cultural and ancestral history. Taking place in the Happy Lucky Gallery in Brooklyn and featuring artists and performers, this event was meant to connect creatives and become a unique collective voice in this global conversation surrounding cultural identity.
